Johannesburg - Gauteng health MEC Qedani Mahlangu has been discharged from George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Pretoria, her department said on Saturday.

“MEC Mahlangu was discharged after spending about three days in hospital. Her doctors were satisfied and convinced by her response to medical treatment and as such, decided to discharge her to recuperate at home,” said spokesman Steve Mabona.

“She is doing very well and feeling much better; we hope she will be back at work on Tuesday, February 9.”

Mahlangu complained about her health just before a public meeting in Tshwane on Wednesday. She was rushed to hospital and admitted for observation, Mabona said at the time.

Mahlangu, premier David Makhura, Tshwane mayor Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, and other public officials were conducting site visits when she fell ill.
