Police are searching for a driver who knocked and killed a female traffic officer near Mount Ayliff, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.
Captain Mlungisi Matidane said the incident happened when police and the traffic department were conducting road checks on Friday afternoon.
“A black Polo appeared at high speed. It didn't stop and knocked down a female traffic officer.”
He said the officer died on her way to hospital.
The driver was being sought by police and would face a charge of culpable homicide. -Sapa
