Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns will win the 2015/16 Absa Premiership title later on Wednesday should they beat University of Pretoria in the Tshwane derby at Tuks Stadium.

This after their closest title rivals Bidvest Wits slipped up on Tuesday night when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Mpumalanga Black Aces in Nelspruit.

The Students now have 57 points and should they win their remaining two games, they will reach a total of 63 points. Sundowns, meanwhile, currently have 62 points and a victory against relegation-threatened Tuks will take them to an unassailable 65 points.

A draw will mean they could still mathematically be caught by Bidvest Wits, although Gavin Hunt's men will need the Brazilians to be beaten in their remaining two matches and themselves win convincingly to turn around a plus eight goal difference swing in the last two rounds.

The two sides are also set to square off against each other in round 29 next week. But as it stands, the title could well be decided by then. Tuks have never beaten Sundowns in 10 previous league and cup meetings.

Eight matches have been won by the Brazilians, with the other two games ending in draws.
