Pretoria - An unbeaten half century from Michael Price put the Warriors firmly in control after the opening day of their Sunfoil Series match against the Titans in Pretoria on Thursday.

At close of play Price was on 50 from 72 deliveries, his 19th career half-century and Arno Jacobs 29.

The visitors were on 87 for one replying to the home side’s 222.

Earlier, Gurshwin Rabie put the Warriors into their strong position having claimed four for 30 in a superb 18-over spell.

The right-arm seamer removed openers Mangaliso Mosehle (eight) and Pieter Malan (0) to leave the hosts in trouble on 13 for two.

Captain Henry Davids (27), Farhaan Behardien (39), Heino Kuhn (25) and David Wiese (35) all had starts, but failed to kick-on.

Roelof van der Merwe, struck a typically attacking 51 off 69-balls.

Apart from Rabie, there were also wickets for Simon Harmer and Christiaan Jonker.

The host were then heading for what looked like a promising position as they raced to 37 without loss in the eighth over.

But Ethan O’Reilly, one of three new faces in the Lions team following their draw against the Knights last week, bowled Divan van Wyk for 18, before Proteas discard Imran Tahir had Imraan Khan caught behind by Quinton de Kock to change the complexion of the game.
