A picture of Nelson Mandela, 95, with his great-grandson has been released to coincide with the promotion of a new reality show.

The photo, which shows Mandela, 95, sitting with his great-grandson Zen Manaway, one, was reportedly taken at the former president’s home in Johannesburg last weekend

Zen, the youngest in the Mandela family, is travelling in the US with his mother, Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway, and his aunt, Swati Dlamini, as the sisters promote their new reality TV series Being Mandela, produced by COZI TV for NBC.

The 30-minute weekly show premieres in the US on Sunday and will follow the next generation of the Mandela family through the experiences of sisters Zaziwe and Swati and their families.

During an interview with theGrio website, the sisters gave an update on their grandfather’s health.

“His health is very good. He’s surrounded by family,” Zaziwe was quoted as saying.

“We go to the house all the time. He’s really happiest the most when he spends time with his great grandchildren. So before we came on the trip we literally went to go see him to say bye. So he’s in really really good spirits. We’re very happy.” - AP, IOL
