Cape Town - Two managers of Claremont club Tiger Tiger, which has hit headlines in the wake of several attacks on patrons after they left the establishment, say they will try to boost security in the area.
Andile and Ayanda Ngidi, have also hit out at people saying the club was unsafe, pointing out no violent incidents had occurred inside the club.
“We will meet all the club owners in the area in an effort to try and find solutions to the problems associated with incidents after leaving the outlet,” they said in a statement on the club’s Facebook page.
“Clubs all have security to deal with problems, but the challenge is how to protect people after they have left.”
They will advise bartenders not to sell alcohol to intoxicated club-goers, but said this was not always easy to control.
Three club-goers had been attacked after leaving clubs in the early hours.
On January 23 a panga-wielding man hacked Zander Vermeulen’s hand off while he was walking home. It was not clear where he had been partying.
In November Carl Schoombie, 27, was dragged from an Uber taxi in Rondebosch and beaten after leaving Tiger Tiger.
He later died in hospital.
In July last year Sanet de Lange reported being attacked after leaving Tiger Tiger.
