Johannesburg - The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will on Friday embark on a door-to-door campaign to raise awareness about the rights of vulnerable groups of people including women and children.

The 16 Days of Activism campaign - which runs from 25 November to 10 December – calls on citizens of the world to take action and fight against violence and abuse of women, children and all other vulnerable groups in society.

“It is a time to remind each other of the daily responsibility we have as citizens to root out all gender-based abuse and discrimination,” said the GPL in a statement released Friday.

The GPL said it will embark on a door-to-door campaign at Jacksons Informal Settlement in Eikenhof.

Departments from Home Affairs, Social Development, Community Safety and Health will provide social workers’ services; facilitate pension and grant related matters; health screening; and mobile clinic.
