Johannesburg - Those who feel lucky have a bigger chance of winning the jackpot now that the South African National Lottery has announced a new PowerBall game, PowerBall Plus.
Ithuba Holdings, official operator of the lottery, announced there is a guaranteed R50 million jackpot for the PowerBall draw on Wednesday to celebrate the new version of the game, where the chances of winning have increased. Wednesday’s PowerBall Plus has a guaranteed R10m jackpot.
Tickets went on sale on Saturday for the revamped PowerBall, where the jackpots are on average 40% bigger than previously.
The price for playing PowerBall has gone up from R3.50 to R5 for each entry.
PowerBall Plus is played by adding R2.50 to your PowerBall bet and ticking the PowerBall Plus box.
The old betting cards are no longer valid, so use only the new ones with the PowerBall Plus option.
In addition, both the PowerBall and PowerBall Plus jackpots will roll over until they are won.
Ithuba chief executive Charmaine Mabuza said: “We are delighted to finally unveil our revived PowerBall game and the all-new PowerBall Plus.
“After taking consumer feedback into account, it was time to inject new life into the game with more divisions, massive jackpots and more chances to win.
“Bigger jackpots mean bigger dreams for our country, starting with the guaranteed R50m and R10m jackpots on December 1.”
