Durban - eThekwini city manager S’bu Sithole needs to explain why buses have not been operating in Durban for the past three days, the Democratic Alliance said on Sunday.

“Commuters using Durban Transport buses to travel around eThekwini are once again stranded and inconvenienced as the privately owned buses again ran out of fuel,” DA eThekwini mayoral candidate Haniff Hoosen said.

The situation was expected to cause more frustration on Monday when workers returned to work and children to school.

“We cannot allow a situation where people lose jobs during this difficult time. eThekwini municipality is focusing on factional battles rather than delivering services to the people.

“The people of KZN need a government who puts their needs and interests first. The DA is the only party that will bring positive change to eThekwini by stopping corruption, creating jobs, and delivering better services to all,” Hoosen said.
