Port Elizabeth – Two “well known gang members” were shot and killed in separate incidents in Port Elizabeth’s Northern Areas, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said that 24-year-old Xandre Jansen was shot several times by a gunman who opened fire when he answered a knock at the door at his Schauderville home on Monday evening.

Naidu said Jansen later died at hospital.

A 29-year-old woman was also wounded in the leg during the incident.

Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.

In a second incident, 47-year-old Donovan Berry died in a hail of bullets in Barberry street in Extension 31 in Bethelsdorp on Tuesday morning.

“It is alleged that Donovan Berry had alighted from a vehicle and was walking when shots were fired at him. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and face,” said Naidu.

No arrests have been made and police were appealing to the public for information that could assist the investigations.
