Brits – Three men accused of the murder of a North West policeman appeared briefly at the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Samuel Marothodi Maphanga, Ndoda Mathibefazi and Jonathan Seloane allegedly shot and wounded Warrant officer Sipho Sithole, 48, in Letlhabile near Brits on November 14, before they hijacked his car.

Sithole was in his car when he was approached by the trio. They allegedly shot him in the chest and fled with his car. Sithole was rushed to hospital, where he died. His car was found in Soshanguve north of Pretoria.

Police officer, Victor Ramorwesi, arrested Samuel Maphanga on November 25 at his parents home in Soshanguve. Unbeknownst to the accused his father, Steve Maphanga, had made an arrangement to with the Hawks to inform the police if ever he visited.

Ramorwesi arrested Mathibefazi on January 31 in Soshanguve and Seloane was arrested on February 4 in Makapanstad.

The trio will appear in court again soon.
