Durban - A 34-year-old suspect has been arrested in possession of 49 bags of dagga, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday. Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said Ingavuma police were conducting an operation when they pulled over a Toyota single cab motor vehicle with a canopy. They searched the car and discovered the bags of dagga, weighing 50 kilogrammes each. Zwane said police believe the drugs were en route to Mozambique from Gauteng. The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Ingwavuma Magistrate's Court on a charge of drug possession. The Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised the team who made the arrest: “We commend the swift response made by our members as we honour our mandate to serve and protect our community.”
