Cape Town – Several shacks were on fire at the Masiphumelele informal settlement near Fish Hoek, the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service said on Friday afternoon.
Cape Town Fire’s Liezl Moodie said “numerous wood and iron structures were alight”.
Over three dozen firefighters and nine fire and rescue vehicles were dispatched to extinguish the fire.
By Friday afternoon, aerial support had also been called for.
