Klerksdorp, North West - Hundreds of people gathered outside the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court on Wednesday for a bail application by murder accused MEC China Dodovu, the SABC reported.

Dodovu and several others are accused of killing ANC official Obuti Chika.

Those present divided themselves into two groups.

The African National Congress, ANC Women's League and ANC Youth League group wanted North West local government MEC Dodovu's co-accused to be denied bail.

The second group supported the co-accused and wanted their bail applications to be granted.

Police were keeping watch.
