Four held for truck hijacking in North West

Rustenburg – Four men were arrested for allegedly hijacking a truck near Phokeng outside Rustenburg, North West police said on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the men allegedly hijacked a delivery truck along the Phokeng-Sun City road on Tuesday.

He said they were arrested on the Lindleyspoort road on the same day by Phokeng police and the Rustenburg Flying Squad.

“According to information, the villains hijacked a delivery truck along Phokeng-Sun City road at about 11:30am. The police moved swiftly after receiving the information and that led to the apprehension of the suspects, as well as recovering a firearm. Two of the suspects were found inside the truck while the other two were found inside a silver BMW with North West registration number which was used in the commission of the crime.”

The men, aged between 26 and 35, were expected to appear in the Bafokeng Magistrate’s Court in Tlhabane on Thursday, facing charges of hijacking and illegal possession of firearm.
