Durban - A man was shot dead in Durban’s plush Umhlanga suburb in what is believed to have been a shootout with police on Thursday.
The police’s media centre confirmed that there had been a shooting incident, but said more information was not immediately available as investigators were still at the scene in Kikembe Drive.
Several paramedic services also converged on the scene of the shooting, but declined to comment on the events that led up to the shooting.
Kyle van Reenen, spokesman for Crisis Medical said that all he could confirm was that one person had been declared dead at the scene.
He said that he could confirm that the man that was declared dead was in his late 20s and had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
