Thohoyandou - A man believed to be a serial rapist operating in the Thohoyandou area has been arrested, Limpopo police said on Monday.
Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the man, 30, was taken into custody on Friday.
Eight girls reported being attacked in the area. Four of them have identified the arrested man as their attacker.
Mulaudzi said DNA tests have linked the man to all eight cases.
“The suspect started his raping spree in 2011 and used the same modus operandi of lying in the bush where he would attack the girls. His victims were girls aged between 14 and 19,” said Mulaudzi.
The rapist sometimes attacked girls who walked in the area with their boyfriends.
Mulaudzi said the man would tie down the boys before raping the girls.
The man was expected to appear in court soon. - Sapa
