Johannesburg - South Africans can look forward to slightly lower fuel prices in December.

Based on unaudited month-end data from the Central Energy Fund, the AA is predicting a decrease of six cents a litre for 95 unleaded petrol and two cents a litre for 93. The diesel price is looking set to drop by between two and four cents a litre, while illuminating paraffin should fall by just one cent.

“The weakening Rand has yet again seen South African motorists miss out on substantial drops in international oil prices,” the AA said. “Almost 60 cents a litre in price relief has been lost to the Rand in the past two months,” the Association noted.

In fact, December alone would have seen prices drop by between 25 and 30 cents a litre had our currency settled at early-November levels.

SA’s petrol price dropped by 22 cents a litre at the begining of November.
