The first official pictures of the second-generation Dacia Sandero hatch and Logan sedan have hit the web ahead of their planned debut at the Paris motor show next week.

Both first-generation cars are known to South Africans as Renaults and our local contact tells us that local availability (or production) of the new models has yet to be publically confirmed and that they won't be introduced within the next year.

The current Renault Sandero is built locally in Nissan's Rosslyn plant while the imported Logan was recently discontinued due to right-hand drive production having been ceased.

Dacia has yet to release any official information on the new models, but the pictures do reveal an evolutionary, but somewhat cleaner, design on both models and a cabin that appears to be a bit more upscale.

On the engine front, there's speculation of an advanced new 0.9-litre three-cylinder petrol motor that puts out 66kW - that's more than the current eight-valve 1.6 musters.
