The F-Type has just been through its first dynamic challenge outside of Jaguar's internal development programme, when three racing drivers - Martin Brundle, Christian Danner and Justin Bell - put both the V6 and V8 prototype models to the test.

In cold and challenging conditions at the UK's Snetterton circuit and on the surrounding Norfolk roads, the trio of international racing drivers and television presenters - one each from the UK, Germany and the US - were under the watchful eye of Jaguar chief engineer for vehicle integrity Mike Cross.

“It's been a fascinating day.”

Cross said: “The F-Type development programme has been focused on producing a connected sports-car drive - and to see three respected drivers on the track and hear their positive comments validate our work has been great.”

The camouflaged prototype F-Type S and F-Type V8 S models in the test were exactly as the production models will be as regards engine, drivetrain and chassis.

The 280kW F-Type S goes from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 275km/h, while the 365kW F-Type V8 S disposes of 0-100 in 4.3 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 300km/h.
