Robertson, Western Cape - Next weekend, from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February, sees the third annual ladies-only Rally in the Valley, open to all women riders, at the Silwerstrand Holiday Resort in Robertson.

It's the only testosterone-free rally in South Africa and is now a national event, with riders coming from as far afield as Gauteng and Namibia. The programme includes a mass ride through the town, games, rally activities and live entertainment starring singer PJ Powers.

Rain no damper for female bikers

Food and drink of all sorts will be available on site, and downtown Robertson is only five kilometres away, if you discover you've forgotten something vital.

Entry is R350 per lady - whether you are there for the afternoon or the whole weekend - and there is limited accommodation available in a tented camp on site at R160 for a two-girl tent, including mattresses.

Host club Lady Bikers SA will have the now traditional ride-up parties on Friday 26 February, and groups of ladies will also be riding in from George, Pretoria and other areas.

The gents of the Harley Owners Group of Cape Town will be escorting their ladies to the gates of the rally venue; other clubs and husbands are welcome to do the same, and meet them again for the ride home on Sunday morning.

For contact details for a group riding to the Rally in the Valley from your area, check the Lady Bikers Facebook page .
