London - It's meant to be the height of fashion, although some might think it owes more to Seventies sexpot Felicity Kendal.

This is the clinging 70s-style denim “jumpsuit” worn by the Duchess of Cambridge in her photoshoot for Vogue magazine.

Made by AG Jeans, the Lolita Cutie dungarees cost £312 (about R6 500) and are cut for a “sensual vintage-inspired fit”.

Kate paired the jumpsuit with a £400 cashmere jumper by supermodel Claudia Schieffer for TSE, and a pair of £115 navy suede ankle boots by Dune.

The casual atmosphere was also preserved off-camera – as the magazine also revealed that Kate drove herself to the shoot in her Land Rover with her hair in curlers.

Despite having a team of high-flying fashionistas at her fingertips, the duchess had apparently settled for her hairdresser Amanda Tucker to set her hair at home.

According to Vogue’s editor, Alexandra Shulman, the royal, 34, even joked about what passers-by must have thought as she drove to the shoot, which saw her snapped by trendy photographer by Josh Olins near her home in rural Norfolk.

She writes in the June edition of the magazine, out this week: “We drank coffee and everyone prepped until the duchess arrived, in jeans and a parka, her hair in big rollers, with a bright, inclusive smile.

“The duchess joked about how she must have appeared to anyone who saw her driving the car in her rollers.”

The Good Life theme – reminiscent of the BBC sitcom – is seen in several of the other portraits, with the duchess wearing checked country-style shirts by Burberry and a Beyond Retro vintage hat.
