MPs have recommended that a former parliamentarian and a legal expert join the Land Bank's board of directors.

The recommendation, by Parliament's agriculture portfolio committee, comes after Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan appointed four new members to the Land and Agricultural Bank of SA in July this year.

In a statement on Tuesday, Parliament's communication services said the committee had put forward the names of former parliamentarian Edwin Conroy and legal expert Vusumzi Matikinca.

The statement quoted committee chair Lulu Johnson.

“We have no doubt that these two professionals will bring in the requisite expertise and skills to enable the bank to regain its lost reputation and image, both locally and internationally.” - Sapa
