Producer inflation up 5.2%

SA’s producer inflation increased by 5.2% year on year in October from a 4.2% rise in September‚ Statistics SA data on Thursday showed.

A consensus among nine economists was that the rate of increase in PPI would rise to 4.8% year on year in October. The forecasts ranged from 4.2% to 5.0%.

PPI was up 0.6% on the month‚ while exported inflation fell 1.0% on the year‚ and was up 0.8% on the month.

Inflation for imported commodities rose 8.0% on a year-on-year basis‚ and was up 0.3% on the month. - I-Net Bridge
